Series - Limited Edition Fine Art Prints
The series MacDonald's Cove consists of three fine art photographic prints taken in June 2015 as I was returning home from my artistic residency in Port Bickerton.
For me, this type of coastal scenery is an almost idyllic setting - barren, rugged beauty looking away towards a seemingly infinite horizon, broken only by rocky outcrops and random islets that are home to but a few scraggy evergreens. The fog, when present (which it often is), contributes to the minimalism and feelings of isolation.
I've only been to this part of Nova Scotia a couple of times but my paternal roots lie here, along the Eastern Shore, in the area surrounding Harrigan Cove. I hope that I can one day explore the region in greater detail, and over a longer period of time.
These prints were created under the auspices of a Career Development (Artist-in-Residence) and a Creation "C" Grant from the New Brunswick Arts Board (artsnb). The grants provided funding to cover subsistence and other costs associated with my work. My thanks to artsnb for supporting this professional opportunity of mine, and for their continued promotion and support of the arts and artists in New Brunswick.
